Byron B. Oberst, M.D. F.A.P.P.

Age 99. Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary Catherine; sisters Annabelle Sorensen and Virginia Noriego and grandson, Matthew Ryan of Cary, NC.



Survived by sons, Byron Joseph (Shirley) of Bend, Oregon, Terrance Martin, Lincoln, Nebraska, Matthew Robert (Nancy);

grandsons Justin and Conor, and great grandchildren John, Annabelle, Samuel, and Penelope.



He was in the private practice of Pediatrics from 1951 to 1988 (37 years). He was very active at the local, state, regional,

and national medical levels. He was involved as an officer in many medical organizations. He published many articles on pediatric and adolescent medicine and various aspect of computer applications to health care and health care delivery. He authored several books on various aspects of computer applications to private office practice management and his life in medicine.

He received many honors including North High’s “Vikings of Distinction” and Childrens’ Hospital “Legends in Pediatrics.” He received his Medical Degree from UNMC, his pediatric training at UNMC and the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.



He served in the Army Medical Corps as the Post Pediatrician at Fort Dix New Jersey and at the 172nd Station Hospital in Sendai, Japan.
