Katherine A. Smith

Katherine Ann Smith was born on March 12, 1949 in Bethesda, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her father, William C. Mulry MD, mother, Jean Burns Mulry, brother James T. Mulry MD, and former husband John W. Smith. Katherine is survived by her sister, Rosemary Vanston, brother, Charles C. Mulry MD, daughter Erica S. Malone, stepsons, Christopher S. Smith and Corey J. Smith, and granddaughters, McKenzie Katherine Malone and Alexis Jean Malone.



Katherine (“Kitty”) graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy and was a successful OT for 51 years. She was an active member of Alcoholic Anonymous with 42 years of sobriety and made a powerful impact in the lives of many. She was also an instructor and program manager for the Heartland Equine Therapeutic Riding Academy (HETRA), a non-profit organization aimed at improving the quality of life for adults and children for over 28 years.
