Allan Vraspir was a quiet, simple, and honest man who loved nature, photography, and his family. He passed away in the afternoon of February 17th after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin; brothers, Jerry, Les, and Terry; parents, Alvin & Dorothy.
Allan is survived by his wife, Pat Fitzgerald; brothers, Neil, Dennis (Cinnamon); and sister, Chelsa Barry (Jerome) and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Burke High School, Allan enlisted in the US Coast Guard where he served as a machinist mate on the icebreaker, Northwind. During his service, he became a “shellback” for crossing the equator and earned the Antarctica Service Award. Following his discharge, he pursued more training in the heating, air conditioning & refrigeration industry. After working a few years in that industry, Allan decided to change fields and enrolled in courses for computer programming and operations. He coupled his previous experience in temperature control with his computer training and spent the rest of his working years programming and managing computer operations for companies involved in refrigeration.
Allan’s favorite hobby was photography. Allan was able to express his personality and attention to detail in the pictures he produced. He was a member of the Schramm Photo Club for decades and always looked forward to the club meetings and activities.
