Bobbie L. Marley

April 23, 1939 — January 26, 2021

Bobbie L. Marley was born April 23rd 1939 to Mattie L. Shirley and Robert O. Shirley in Coal Valley, Alabama. After high school, Bobbie went to dental assistant school in Birmingham, Alabama. It was there that she met John, a dental student at the University of Alabama and they married on Feb. 20th, 1960. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska where John received a teaching position at Creighton University Dental School. They raised six children in Omaha and Bobbie was a devoted mother. When her kids got older, she pursued a college education at Creighton and received her BA in History when she was 54 years old. She then worked for Hyatt Corporation for 20 years. But her most important and loved job was being a grandmother. She was a much beloved grandmother and spent most of her free time in this role. Her family will always remember her loving devotion to them, and also her hilarious quirkiness and fun loving times that she created with them. She loved cooking and hosting family celebrations. Even in her brief illness, she hosted a birthday party for one of her children 2 1/2 weeks before she died. Her family will miss her terribly.

She is survived by her children Susan (Richard) of Topeka, KS; Tom (Kate) of Lincoln; Teresa (Dave) of Rapid City, SD; Greg of Omaha; Cindy (Amir) of Airville, PA; and Steve (Kathey) of Omaha; and her grandchildren Rekeisae, Alexandria and Tevin Hamilton; Janna and Carmen Marley; Matthew, Andrea, Savannah, and Noah Johnson; Jonah and Juliana Salehi; Kaitlin Marley; Joshua Ross; great-grandchildren Ellana Hamilton and Tevin Hamilton Jr. and her former husband John Marley. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Joe Shirley and sister Nell Vail.
