Clare M. Davlin

January 20, 1935 — August 3, 2022

Always with a twinkle in both beautiful blue eyes. Clare was from Greeley, NE. Preceded in death by parents Patrick and Mary Agnes O’Gorman; husband of 49 years, Charles Davlin; daughter Ann Davlin Hartung; five sisters and one brother.

Survived by sons, Michael Davlin (Leslie Douglas), Timothy Davlin (Ann O’Connor), David (Kim) Davlin, and Chris (Suzie) Davlin; son-in-law Daniel Hartung; grandchildren: Emma, John, Conor, Patrick, Christopher and Samuel. Special thanks to the Heritage at Sterling Ridge’s CSN’s and the entire staff for their loving care of our mother.

Born on January 20, 1935 during a major snowstorm forcing her brother Patrick (Sock) to shovel a very long driveway to get the car out onto the highway to get to the Spalding, Nebraska hospital. Clare was raised on a farm east of Greeley, Nebraska, and then in the town of Greeley. Her parents were Patrick and Mary Agnes O’Gorman (her beloved mother who had come to Nebraska on the Orphan Train). One brother, Patrick and five sisters, Colette, Maxine, Katherine, Agnes, and Ann, all predeceased her. Clare attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Sacred Heart High School in Greeley. Salutatorian of 1952 graduating class. Married Charles Davlin on June 12, 1954 and was married for 49 years. Charles preceded Clare in death on October 24, 2003. They had five children: Mike, Tim, Dave, Ann (deceased) and Chris. Four daughters-in-law Leslie, Ann, Kim and Suzie and one son-in-law Danny. Six grandchildren Emma, John, Conor, Patrick, Christopher, and Sam.

Clare was as “Irish” as one could be. She was kind, classy, funny, smart, humble, musically inclined, and religious. She was a delight to “party’ with, and loved sharing a cold one and laughs with her sisters, other family and close friends. A few tears from time to time, too.

She was a devoted wife and a strong-minded Mother who went without so her kids could have more than she had. She loved education with all kids attending Catholic grade schools, high schools, and universities. She gave without expectation of pay or praise. She played the organ at 5:00 pm Saturday mass and countless weddings and funerals at Holy Name for 20+ years without taking a dime. Clare spent the final seven years of her life at The Heritage at Sterling Ridge; a second home with her second family (other residents and devoted Certified Nursing Assistants and staff). Clare will be missed by everyone who ever met her. The world is not the same without Clare’s grace and class.
