David Lee Collette, age 64, passed away on April 2nd, 2016. He was born November 21,1951, in Concordia, KS. Dave was critically injured in a farm accident on March 21st. He was preceded in death by parents, Alfred and Bernetha (Dyson) Collette and sister, Debbie Collette Clanin. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Jane (Yaksich) Collette; son David and wife Lindsey,and children Liam, Mason, and Kinley; son Adam and wife Taryn, and children Jacquelyn and Brooklyn; brothers Don (Bev) Collette, Brad (Mary) Collette, Tim (Kim) Collette, Alan (Kim) Collette, Rod (Leah) Collette, and Arnie (Mary) Collette; sisters Diane (Dennis) Kearn, Loretta (Steve) Dunn, Janet (Norbert) Budke and Tammie (Rodger) Carmen; 35 nieces and nephews; 55 great nieces and nephews;and 4 great, great nieces and nephews. Dave was in the Dairy business for 38 years, most recently at Hiland (Roberts) Dairy. Later he was an over the road truck driver for several years. It was something he had always dreamed of doing. In his retirement, he worked part time for several farmers, hauling cattle, corn, beans, etc. He was an old farm boy at heart. He dearly loved his family, especially his 5 grandchildren. He was highly respected and loved by family and friends; too many to count. The family would like to thank the staff of UNMC for the loving care and kindness extended to Dave and our family
Services:
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St Peters Catholic Church in Aurora, KS, on Saturday, April 9th, at 10am. The family will have a private interment at the St Peters Cemetery. The family requests no flowers or plants. Memorials can be directed to the family to be donated to Lovewell State Park for playground equipment.
Visitation:
A memorial visitation will be held in Omaha on Wednesday, April 6th, at John A Gentleman Mortuary on 144th and Pacific from 4:30 pm-7:30 pm.
