Dave Koll, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 70. David Michael Koll was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Alfred and Elaine Koll. He grew up in Walnut, Iowa on the family farm. He graduated in 1969 from Walnut High School. Dave attended Peru State College and graduated in 1973. After college, he moved to Omaha where he lived out the rest of his life. He was married to Donna, who was the love of his life, on January 18, 1975 in Walnut, IA and blessed with two children, Mark and Melanie.
Dave loved to watch his children and grandchildren participate in sporting events. He coached his children’s softball and baseball teams and continued coaching competitive softball later on in life. He was a long-time member of Northwest Hills United Church of Christ and served on many church committees. He was an avid reader and loved to watch movies. Dave and Donna loved to travel, especially to Maryland to see their grandchildren.
Dave worked as a Financial Advisor for Mutual of Omaha for 42 years, and in his last 3 years he worked for Futurity First Insurance Group and a partner of Lifetime Retirement Partners. Dave became a member of NAIFA in 1975. Dave has shown a passion for supporting NAIFA's advocacy mission. He served on the State PAC Board for more than a decade and his leadership, including terms as vice-chair and chair, has been instrumental in maintaining Nebraska's status as one of the leaders in the NAIFA federation in PAC fund-raising. He has led by example. Dave was recognized as NAIFA-Omaha’s “Agent of the Year” in 2013. Dave was also an active member and participant of IFAPAC. Taking care of his clients and ensuring that their financial and retirement needs were satisfied was his goal in life and one in which he excelled.
Dave was preceded in death by parents. Survivors include his wife, Donna; children, Mark Van Goethen and Melanie (Scott) Hobbs; grandchildren, Emma and Lauren; brother Steve (Cindy) Koll; nephew, Kellen Koll; niece, Katie Koll, extended family and friends.
Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, July 28th at 11:00AM, with fellowship immediately following at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries 72nd Street Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Josie Harper Hospice House or Food Bank for the Heartland.
