In Loving Memory of Debra Livingston-Gray

Debra Evon Livingston-Gray, beloved daughter, sister, wife, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, at the age of 73.  She was born on January 6, 1950, at Gordon Memorial Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, to Clarence and Ruth Livingston of Elk Point, South Dakota.

Debra's life was marked by creativity, determination, and a deep love for her husband Don.  She attended Elk Point Public School, where she completed her high school education in 1968. Following her passion for hairstyling, she pursued her training at Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux City, becoming a skilled beautician. Upon graduation, she worked as an apprentice beautician in a salon in Elk Point, eventually establishing her own successful venture, Deb’s Beauty Shop.  Her dedication and talent quickly made her salon a popular destination, and she became a respected figure in the local community.

In October of 1976, Debra married the love of her life, Donald Emerson Gray, in Sioux City. The couple settled in the Millard area of Omaha, where they built a home and shared countless cherished moments together. Despite the distance, Debra remained committed to her Elk Point roots, commuting back and forth to maintain her salon and uphold her connections in the community.

Debra was not only gifted in hairstyling but also had a passion for culinary arts. Inspired by her mother and grandmother, she became an exquisite cook, exploring new recipes and techniques. Her kitchen was always filled with the delightful aroma of freshly prepared meals, and she took great joy in sharing her culinary creations with her family and friends.

In addition to her professional pursuits and culinary talents, Debra was known for her warm-hearted nature.  She had a unique way of making a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Debra's life will be held on Friday, October 27th, 1:00 PM, at John A. Gentleman Mortuary, located at 14151 Pacific Street in Omaha.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Nebraska Humane Society, in Debra’s memory.  Debra was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, who passed on just over a month before her, on September 3^rd.  Debra will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love, kindness, and the legacy of warmth she leaves behind.
