June 27, 1927 – January 27, 2025
Donald Sutton was born in Omaha, NE on June 27, 1927 to John “Leonard” and Anna (Jorgensen) Sutton. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, Audrey; parents; step-mother, Emma; 6 siblings; Joe, Alfred, Jack, Sr Margaret, Bob, and Sr Jeananne Sutton; Tere Sutton (daughter in law) and Craig Vipond (son in law). Don is survived by his loving children: Mike Sutton (Tere, deceased); Mary Jean Sutton (Dean Uhing); Roxanne Vipond (Craig, deceased), Peggy Graham (Rod), and Dan Sutton (Betty). 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchild.
Don and his wife Audrey’s children were the love of their life. He and Audrey were very religious and virtuous people. His Catholic faith was utmost important to him. He wanted to pass on his deep faith to all of his children, worked very hard to send them to Catholic grade and high schools. Don attended Creighton University. He was a successful businessman, starting his own business, Sutton Siding Co. Retiring at age 50, he later learned computer programming and wrote a lengthy investment tracking program which was sold around the world. He also served in the US Navy in WWII. To say he loved to golf is an understatement. He taught his wife and children the game, they loved golfing together often, including “the Sutton Open”. He and Audrey would visit Phoenix in the winter where they enjoyed time together, golfing every day. A day did not go by when he didn’t think about his loving wife since her death in 2017. The family would like to thank the staff at Immanuel Newport House for their loving and attentive care.
