Edward Stephen Safford, also known as Ed, passed away on November 11, 2023, at the age of 68 in Waterloo, Nebraska. Born on June 13, 1955, in Omaha, Nebraska, Ed was a beloved father, sibling, and friend.
Ed was known for his kind and generous nature. He had a compassionate and empathetic heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His loyalty and trustworthiness made him a cherished friend and confidant. Ed had a great sense of humor and his wit would often bring smiles and laughter to those around him.
As a devoted father, Ed's love for his children, Joey and Shelbey Safford, knew no bounds. He took pride in being there for them and providing them with guidance and support throughout their lives. Ed was also survived by his siblings, Rachel Chaney (Sandy Chaney) and Brad Safford (Sabina Safford).
Ed attended Waterloo Primary School and later graduated from Waterloo High School. Following his education, he pursued a career as a truck driver, where he thrived in his profession.
Outside of work, Ed had a variety of hobbies that brought him joy. He had a passion for music, finding solace and inspiration in its melodies. Ed also enjoyed welding and working on cars, showcasing his talent and dedication to craftsmanship. He had a sense of adventure and loved flying his drone. Above all, Ed's greatest joy came from taking care of his family, ensuring their well-being and happiness.
Survived by son, Joey Safford; daughter, Shelbey Safford; sister, Rachel (Sandy) Chaney; brother, Brad (Sabina) Safford. Preceded in death by his wife, Diane L. Safford; parents, Charles and Marjorie Safford.
Visitation to honor Ed's life will be held on Sunday, November 19th, from 5-7pm at John a Gentleman Pacific Street Chapel. The funeral service will take place at Journey Church in Gretna, Nebraska on Monday, November 20th, at 10am. Food will be served following the service.
Ed's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and dedication to family. May his kind and loving spirit continue to inspire us all, and may he rest in peace.
