Frederick James Precht went home to his Heavenly Father on September 9, 2018, following a brief illness. Fred passed peacefully while surrounded by loving family and close friends.
Fred was born in Denison, Iowa on April 26, 1929, to Ella Gregerson Precht and Frank E. Precht Sr.
He grew up in Denison Iowa where he attended Denison High School. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and the trombone, running track and performing in school plays.
After high school, he married Joyce M. Kearney and moved to Omaha where he worked as a systems analyst for the Swanson Companies (Campbell’s Soup) until his retirement. Joyce passed away in 1963 after a long illness. Fred was a single father and worked hard to raise his 3 children with the help of their grandmother Kate Kearney.
In 1971, Fred married Kathie E. Kirst and they enjoyed a long and loving marriage. They recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Fred and Kathie have been long-time members of LifePointe Church in Omaha. Kathie is one of the founding members of this church. They both enjoyed singing together at services and fellowship with so many wonderful friends. They shared a strong faith which has carried them through a lifetime of experiences together.
Fred and Kathie loved to travel. They took extended driving vacations all over the USA and often traveled to Hawaii, their favorite vacation destination.
Fred and his family enjoyed summers at Lake View, Iowa where Frank and Ella owned a cabin on Blackhawk Lake. The family has so many beautiful memories there and have a multitude of photos capturing those special times.
Fred was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to so many. He was kind and gentle and quite handsome with a full head of hair.
Fred is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen (Kathie) E. Precht and his children Barb Kirst, Joni McCue (Jeff), Cheri Bailey Ziegler, Mary Busch (Robb) and Tammy Kirst Strenger as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife Joyce Kearney
Precht, his sons Dan Precht and Larry Kirst; his son in law, Norman Ziegler; his parents Ella and Frank Precht Sr. and his siblings Frank E. Precht Jr. and Jean Precht Mein.
A luncheon and gathering of friends and family will be held at LifePointe Church
