Gregory L. Hulsey

June 18, 1965 — January 8, 2021

Gregory Hulsey, 55, passed away while surrounded by his family at 5:55pm on January 8, 2021.

Greg was born to parents Roy and Audrey Hulsey on June 18, 1965 in Sacramento, California. Growing up with a “pops” (as he would say) in the air force, his family moved around a lot. They lived in Spring Grove, MN, Scott AFB, IL, Wiesbaden AFB, Germany, Ramstein AFB, Germany, Grand Forks AFB, ND and Bellevue (Offutt AFB), NE and he ultimately graduated from Bellevue East in 1983. On May 8, 1999 Greg married Jennifer Dennis and they enjoyed 21 years of marriage. During this marriage they were blessed to add two children, Ethan and Lillian to their family with Emma and James. Their journey included moves to Cincinnati, OH, St. Charles, IL and then back to Omaha, NE, where it all began. They enjoyed meeting many new friends along this journey all of whom are cherished. Time together was always important to Greg and Jenny Lee as he so affectionately called her. Soulmates, through each challenge life presented them. A journey ended too soon.

Described as the life of the party, Greg was incredibly hardworking, gritty, joyful, compassionate, silly, and fiercely proud of and dedicated to his family. Greg spent the majority of his career in leadership roles in the fintech payments industry with his most recent position in his dream job at Commerce Bank in Kansas City. Greg truly was passionate about the collaboration it took to bring business units together to achieve the overall business objectives. He had a special knack for balancing the differences between the business requirements and the interpersonal considerations of his team. In addition to quality time with his family and friends, Greg’s passions included making people laugh, early morning coffee at the lake, helping those around him grow, biking and staying active, the Huskers, golfing, hunting, and grilling while smoking a cigar and enjoying a cocktail. Greg is survived by his parents Roy and Audrey, wife Jennifer, daughters Emma and Lily, sons James (Kelli Yost) and Ethan, sister Allison (Tim Horn), nephews Jacob and Jackson, nieces MacKenzie and Paige, aunts, uncles, cousins, lifelong friends, and two pups Trixie and Bentley.
