Helen L Plambeck

September 2, 1938 — June 8, 2017

Helen Marie (Lorence) Plambeck, Age 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at her daughter’s home in Bellevue, on June 8, 2017. She was born September 2, 1938 in Omaha to James and Lillian (Peklo) Lorence. Helen attended Avery Elementary School, where her father, children and many of her grandchildren attended. Helen graduated from Omaha South High School and worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Lowski’s Hogs and Union Pacific. She married Robert “Buddy” D Plambeck on August 17, 1957.

She was a hard worker, rising before dawn to start caring for her family who reaped the benefits of her sacrificial love, service and exceptional cooking. She had high expectations, was innovative, intelligent, loved sports, everything Czech and spoke her mind. All who knew her loved her. She had an amazing and impactful way of making you feel loved and cared for and she always put everyone else’s needs above her own. Her family was her pride and joy and she spoke proudly to everyone about her children, grandchildren or great grandchildren and, incredibly, attended almost all of their sporting events. Her home was the hub for all the kids, grandkids and all their friends. Her house was where everyone wanted to be. She was always ready to prepare a feast of food and fun conversation for those entering her doors. She made every holiday a celebration of family and fun. Despite the demands of raising six children, Helen continued to tend her large garden, producing huge batches of fresh vegetables and canned goods. She shared her bountiful produce and cooking with everyone she knew.

She was generous, caring and kind to everyone she met and was a loving, giving friend to all who were blessed to cross her path. She will be profoundly missed and her legacy will be remembered for generations to come.

She is survived by husband, Buddy (Robert) Plambeck; sons, Robert (Martha), Jim (Val), John (Chris), Mike (Corinne); Daughters, Teresa (Mark) Goblowsky, and Lisa (Mike) Chick; 21 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Lorraine Hassel, brother, James (Lana) Lorence, Brother-in-law, Ronald Plambeck; sisters-in-law, Linda and Gladys Plambeck, Donna (Joe) White and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, brothers-in-law, Les Hassel, Vernon Plambeck, Gary Plambeck and sister-in-law Patricia Plambeck.

Proverbs 31:25-31

“She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come...She carefully watches over everything in her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her, saying: ”There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.”
