Hubert H. "Dave" Davenport

Hubert H. “Dave” Davenport 84 of Norfolk, VA died on June 19, 2015 at his son’s home in Bellevue, NE with his family by his side.



He was born July 23, 1930 in Hickory Grove, AR to the late Henry Owen Davenport and late Minnie Florence Doyle.



In 1947 he joined the United States Navy and retired in 1970 as an Engineman Chief. While stationed in Charleston, SC with the U.S. Navy Dave met his wife Thelma E. Johnson and they married on April 12, 1953 and remained married until his death.



Surviving is his wife, Thelma of Norfolk, VA. One sister Claudette (Wayne) Henry of Ennis, TX, One daughter Lori Davenport-Thrash of Norfolk, VA, two sons David Davenport (David Taylor) of Boston, MA. and Charles (Lori) Davenport of Bellevue, NE. Dave also had 5 grandchildren: Steven (Chanel) Thrash, Samantha Nagel, Amanda Davenport, Ryan Nagel and Kimberlee Davenport and one great grandchild; Tatum Thrash.



He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Betty Jane Davenport; brother Charles Henry Davenport.



A viewing will be held at John A Gentleman Mortuaries Bellevue Chapel on Monday June 22, 2015 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. The family will greet relatives and friends upon arrival.



There will be no funeral services, as a memorial service will be held at a later date in Norfolk, Virginia.
