JAMES DAVID “JIM / BOGIE” BOGENSBERGER
MARCH 12,1965 – APRIL 13, 2022
Jim Bogensberger was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Bill (Bogy) and Andrea (Andy) Bogensberger. He spent his early childhood in Arizona. Family relocations also took him to Montana, Florida, Washington and Wyoming. Ultimately, he settled in Omaha where he has resided since 1972.
Jim attended Millard North High School and the University of Nebraska Omaha. He became a sound and recording engineer, and owned the Nevada Room Recording Studio. Jim ran live sound at various venues, most recently volunteering his expertise for the weekly broadcast at Bridge Church.
His greatest passion and purpose was as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC). He worked for the Siena Francis House Miracles Program, Halo Counseling Center, and most recently, CenterPointe Campus for Hope. In addition, Jim provided affordable counseling through his private practice JDB Counseling. In his tireless dedication to recovery, he also co-founded a Christian 12-Step recovery group at Abide Omaha.
Jim married the love of his life Melinda on November 19, 2011, barefoot on the beach in Captiva Island, Florida, and they have lived in their century-old, Country Club Historic District home for the past 10 years with their beloved dogs April and Jackson. During their epic love story, they enjoyed quiet times by the fire, numerous road trips to Florida, the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming, Montana and exploring the Great Plains.
Jim was full of energy with a quiet spirit. Throughout his life, he counted music, fishing, camping, scuba diving, grilling, smoking meat and off-road excursions as his favorite activities. He also loved entertaining friends at his backyard firepit where guests could enjoy themselves with conversation and laughter.
He is survived by the loving Melinda, his stepson Eric, sister Anne Ginn, brother-in-law Pat Neary and many friends. Memorials are suggested to the Stand with Jim! fundraiser by Lauren Smith at gofundme.com.
