Jim graduated from Cathedral High School in 1973 and chose to drive semi-trucks. He moved furniture across 48 states which tickled his traveling bone. During this time, he met his beloved wife, Beth in the early 1980’s and they married in 1991. Jim also worked with his brothers for many years, at Brown Transfer. After he retired from the trucking industry, Jim became a dedicated employee at Home Depot. In his 17 years there, he made many friends and gained another work family. He was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and gift of gab.
Jim is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Henderson (Shane Pruss) and Valerie (Ron) Olson; grandchildren, Ryan Henderson, Shawn, Justin and Hunter Pruss; siblings, Susan (Bruce) Riedman, Patricia (Dr. John) Dunn, Fred (Tammy) Sommer, Jr., Robert Sommer; brother-in-law, Larry Eberhardt; many, many nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his loving wife, Beth Sommer; parents, Virginia and Fred Sommer; sister, Cisily Eberhardt; his twin children, Gentry and Jacob Sommer; and his beloved dog, Max. Jim was a wonderful Dad, brother, and friend. He will be missed. We love you.
