Janice Ann Wolf was born on October 30, 1942 to Frank Joseph and Neva Catherine (Morrison) Wolf. She was raised on a farm near Dannebrog, Nebraska in Howard County. She preferred to go by Jan. She loved the cats and dogs they had on the farm. She was a cheerleader and played in the band at Dannebrog High School. She enjoyed playing piano and was very good at this. Throughout her life Jan was active in keeping her District 16, one-room school, and Dannebrog High School classmates together for reunions and other socials.
She moved to Omaha in 1963 and began her professional career as an executive administrative assistant. She went onto found a temporary services agency for administrative support known as Jan Ann Temporary Services in the early 1970s before finding her true calling as a highly accomplished insurance agent for Central States of Omaha. She worked for CSO well through the 1980s, and became semi-retired in the 1990s.
Jan loved to travel and has been all over the United States and several countries around the world. Her favorite destination was Israel, where she could walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ. She also was an avid supporter of the performing arts. She always had season tickets for the Omaha Community Playhouse, and could always be found front row center when she took her seat. Jan volunteered at the Playhouse, and for the City of Omaha for live events.
She was a crafter and a collector. She loved Christmas, and would go over the top decorating her home for the holiday, hand-making Christmas ornaments and giving them away. She also liked to volunteer for social functions at her church, St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, in Omaha.
In September of 2023, she moved to Port Orange, Florida to be nearer to her son and his family. Jan celebrated Christmas Eve in the Wolf family tradition and she enjoyed for her last meal, the recipe she established decades ago for this gathering.
Jan’s greatest joy in life was her son, daughter-in-law, doting over her granddaughters, greatgrandchildren, and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Carroll Wayne.
Jan is survived by her son: Steven Wolf and daughter-in-law, Keery, of Ponce Inlet, FL; granddaughters: Hailey Neva Wolf, Hartford, CT; Sydney Allison Nistler, Landstuhl, Germany; Amanda Keery Kelly, Cork, Ireland; Erin Maeve Wolf, Juneau, Alaska; Anna Rose Wolf, Ponce Inlet, FL; stepson Raymond Otter, Jr.; step daughter-in-law Tracy, and their children, Kristyn, Bridgette and Theresa; great grandchildren: Rose Vera and Quinn Catherine Kelly, Cork, Ireland; Franklin Louis and Theresa Pia Nistler, Landstuhl, Germany.
