John Duane Hansen

September 16, 1935 — January 6, 2024

Omaha, Nebraska

John Duane Hansen was born in Omaha to Earl and Frances (Ostergard) Hansen.  He graduated from Tech High in 1954.  Duane married Deloris Perkins on September 10, 1961 and from that union came three children: Ronald, Russell and Robin.  He was a baker at Downs Bakery and owned his own business, Hansen Upholstering, all whilst serving in Navy Reserves for over 20 years.  He actively participated in Boy Scouts as a child and adult with his own sons.  He attended Pella Lutheran Church all his life until it closed and was in the choir and sponsor for Luther League.  Duane was also a member of Omaha Executive Association (OEA), Danish Brotherhood in America and Vennelyst Park.  He was an avid Husker fan and even worked Husker football games.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and tending to his vegetable and flower gardens.  Duane truly loved being outdoors.

Survived by wife, Deloris Hansen; children, Ronald (Rhonda) Hansen, Russell Hansen, and Robin (Don) Bailey; sister, Joyce Christensen; granddaughters, Liz (Vinny) Castellano and Heidi (Austin) Strader; great grandchildren, Gianna, Dominic, and Samantha; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation Wednesday, January 10, 2024 beginning at 1:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00pm at Augustana Lutheran Church, 3647 Lafayette Ave Omaha, NE.  Inurnment at Omaha National Cemetery at a later date.  Memorials may be made to Augustana Lutheran Church or Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue, NE.
