In Loving Memory of John (Jack) Wiley, Jr.

John (Jack) Wiley, Jr. of Omaha, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 22, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 30, 1938, in Davenport, Iowa, Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

Jack dedicated his life to his family and the community. He worked for the Douglas County Health department for over 40 years, retiring as its Director. He also taught biology at Bellevue University and was an active volunteer for several organizations in the community, most recently at the Henry Doorly Zoo. He was known for his strength, kindness, humor, intelligence and unwavering support for those he loved.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John Wiley, Sr. and Margaret “Toni” Wiley, beloved wife Eleanor, brothers Mike, Steve and Rick Wiley, and grandchildren Mary Finochiaro and Benjamin Wiley. He is survived by his children, Lisa Wiley, John Wiley III, Susan Finochiaro (John), Doug Wiley (Carol), Scott Wiley, Tom Wiley (Dottie Cubrich), Andy Wiley (Beth), Tricia Wiley and Jeff Wiley (Alison), as well as his grandchildren, Stacey, Kelly, Lindsey, and John Finochiaro, Amanda, Marc, David, Ryan, and Nick Wiley, Trevor and Chad Wiley, Kaitlyn Wiley, Chauncey Stefanidis and Zahara Wiley, Luke, Ella, Lucy and Nathan Wiley, and Jake Reiner. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Norah Finochiaro, and Penny and Grayson Mitchell, as well as his sister Kathi Mundy (Greg), and many nieces and nephews.

Jack will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorials to the Henry Doorly Zoo.
