John M. Grier, M.D.

Born Feb 12, 1932; died suddenly Saturday, 4/3/2021. He was born in Omaha, NE, graduated from Creighton Prep and then served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1955. He attended Creighton University prior to and after the Air Force service and received a MD degree in 1961 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Served an internship and a four year residency in anatomical and clinical pathology, all at Clarkson Hospital, Omaha. He joined Clarkson Hospital in practice until retiring in 1988.



He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John J. Grier, MD, Mary McNerthney; sister Katherine Ann Smith, former wife Mary Barbara O’Dea Grier.



He is survived by wife, Edelene Grier, daughter, Megan Grier Wallace (Daniel), son, Michael Grier (Kathleen) Grier, brothers, Michael T. Grier, MD (Monica) and Andrew F. Grier (Staci). Grandchildren: Katie and Molly Wallace, Eve and Ian Grier; Edelene’s children and grandchildren, Annette (Mark) Wagoner, Elijah, Samuel. Alissa (Keith) Kepplin, Amanda, Abby and Aaron. Also survived by brother-in-law W. Ronald Smith (Marianne), nephews and nieces.



John was a man who was determined and persistent. He faced many challenges in his early life and more recently but tackled them with courage, strength and the will to live. We will all miss his love and his confidence in us.





SERVICES: Saturday April 10, 10am at Christ the King Catholic Church.
