Johnnie D. Dunn

October 7, 1938 — June 24, 2024

Omaha

Johnnie Dale Dunn was born Nebraska City on October 7th, 1938. He was born into a large family, being the 4th of 10. He spent his childhood on his bike, riding from field to field playing any kind of ball he could find.

In July of 1958, he married the love of his life, Jayne Lauree Dreessen. They shared a full life with lots to celebrate including two sons and four grandchildren. He was dedicated to his family, spending all his spare time at sporting events and other school activities as well as packing up the car for a family road trip in the summers. Many memories were made from trips to Mexico, several to North Carolina, a few events at the ‘94 Olympics, an anniversary excursion in Alaska, and so many others.

He spent his career dedicated to the post office. Through that, he was an active member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association where he was very proud of what he accomplished and the different roles he held including his time as president. He retired in ‘97 after 40 years of service.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Jayne, son Pat (Georgia), grandchildren Ryan, Nikki, Gabe Dunsmith, and Blaise Dunsmith, sister Nora (Jim) Carlson, and many loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by son Jeff, daughter-in-law Ann, parents Woodson and Edna and siblings Bob, Agnes Sutcliffe, Ronnie, Jay, Bill, Mary Nanfito, George, and Patty Shalberg.
