Joseph (Joe) Edward Poler Sr. of Omaha passed away on February 20, 2020 at Nebraska Medicine following a brief illness. Joe was born on July 17, 1936 to Patrick and Sarah (Sally) Poler.
He graduated from Technical High School where he was active in drama and business. He attended Omaha University and worked for AMF and later Enterprise and National Electric; he retired from National Electric after 40 years of service.
Joe had a great sense of humor and brought a smile to everyone’s face. His loving nature and kindhearted spirit drew people to him, and he was a source of strength and support for many. He enjoyed visiting Florida, playing a hand in Vegas, dabbling with gadgets, and watching Husker football. He was a devoted father who spent many years coaching his sons and daughters in baseball and softball. Joe loved sports, his faith, and most of all his family.
He is survived by his beloved partner Lois Hagen, his former spouse Mary Osterloh, their children: Aaron Johnson, Joe (Megan) Poler Jr., Katie (Brian) Carmody, Anne Poler (Pete Phelan), Ted (Jackie) Poler, grandchildren Emily, Hannah and Molly Carmody, Ada Poler, Kaylee Poler, his sister Patty Suiter, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Patrick Poler, mother Sarah (Sally) Poler, and companion Jean Sutton.
