Joseph Francis Kelly, age 95, died peacefully at his home in Omaha Nebraska, January 14, 2022. Joe was 1 of 10 children born to Daniel and Rose Kelly in Kirkwood, Missouri. He was a graduate of St. Louis University with a masters degree in Social Work. His dedicated career spanned 30 plus years with Catholic Charities, where he worked on many adoption-related bills in the Nebraska Legislature.
In 1963, he married Marlene Ann Rogers in Long Beach California, where they had their first two children, and later relocated to Omaha, where they raised six children. They were united for 57 years until Marlene‘s death in February 2020.
Joe was a World War II veteran - US Army infantry, having served in Europe from 1945 to 1946. His interests included golfing, fishing, hunting, reading, volunteering, and was known for his ‘famous hand-written letters’.
He was a true gentleman, a kind and caring man, and a man of great faith. He meant so much to so many and will be missed by those that knew him. He will be reunited with wife Marlene and their son John in heaven and to live in eternal peace with God.
Joseph is preceded in death by his wife Marlene and son, John. He is survived by his children, Kathleen Lynch, Michael Kelly, Mark Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Ann (Chris) Kozol; 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation Monday Jan. 17, at the 72nd Street Chapel, beginning at 4pm with a Wake Service at 6pm.
Services Tuesday Jan. 18, 10:30am at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Interment Hillcrest Cemetery.
