Joe Gehrki passed away peacefully at home on February 6, 2021. He served as a Marine on the frontline of the Korean War. He then made his career at Campbell Soup and retired after 40 years. Joe will be remembered as an avid card player (always won) and a golfer (scored 9 holes in one throughout his life). Joe is preceded in death by daughter, Terri Hinton and stepdaughter, Kathy Smith. Survived by wife, Linda; children: Bernard (Bernadette) Gehrki, Joan (Ray) Beck, Julie (Joe) McGill, Sue Henrickson, Joe (Karen) Gehrki, Jeanne (Rich) Layendecker and Chris (Kevin) Monahan; stepchildren, Charles (Judy) Sivard and Deanna (George) Brower; son-in-law, Keith Hinton; 35 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2021 at 10:00am at St Leo the Great Catholic Church. Visitation Tuesday beginning at 5:00pm, followed by a Wake at 7:00pm at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries 72nd Street Chapel. Interment with military honors at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Joe’s name to the Madonna School 6402 N. 71st St, Omaha, NE.
