Judith (Judy) Kaye Lee was born on September 7, 1952 in De Smet, South Dakota, to Harlan and Beth Seeley. As a child, Judy enjoyed riding Shetland Ponies in the summer and ice skating in the winter. She also accompanied her dad to his many construction sites. In high school, she was involved in choir and traveling musicals. This is also where she began dating her future husband, Gary. After graduating high school in 1970, she attended college to obtain her associate’s degree in business. After marrying Gary in 1972, they immediately moved to Fort Gordon, Georgia, for Gary’s military service. They would then go on to move to Fort Hood, Texas. After Gary discharged from the Army in 1974, Judy and Gary relocated to Omaha, where they spent the rest of Judy’s life. Omaha is where they raised their two daughters: Jenny, born in 1979, and Vickie, born in 1983. Upon moving to Omaha, Judy worked as a loan officer with a local bank, where she worked until Vickie was born. This is when she decided to stay home and raise her girls. Once her daughters were older, Judy joined Farmers insurance where she worked until her retirement in 2007. Judy enjoyed taking an annual trip to Leech Lake, Minnesota, where her and Gary had many friends and enjoyed fishing until she got sick in 2022. Judy also enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, family and friends.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Beth Seeley, as well as her brother, Dick Seeley. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Gary, as well as her daughters Jennifer Pontefract of Glenwood Iowa; Vickie (Troy) Haecke of Omaha; granddaughters Elyse and Kendyl Pontefract; Natalie, Katelyn, and Lauren Haecke. She is also survived by a sister, Janet (Mike) Dahlen of Iowa City, along with many other family members and friends. Memorials to be directed by the family.
