Kathie Elaine Precht

Kathleen (Kathie) Elaine Precht went home to her Heavenly Father on July 26, 2020. Kathie passed peacefully while surrounded by loving family.

Kathie was born in Albion, NE. on August 11,1925, to Ethel Swales Hanna and Ed Hanna.

She was the oldest of 3 kids, sister Norma McFarling and brother Jim Hanna.

Kathie graduated from Omaha Technical High School. After many years of being a homemaker, she entered the workforce as an Executive Secretary first at Omaha North High School, then Boys Town and finally at Northern Natural Gas where she retired.

In 1971, Kathie married Fred Precht. They enjoyed a long and loving marriage. Fred and Kathie were long-time members of LifePointe Church. Kathie was one of the founding members of the church. They enjoyed singing together at services and fellowship with their wonderful church family. They shared a strong faith in God which carried them through a lifetime of experiences together.

Fred and Kathie loved to travel. They took extended driving vacations all over the USA and often traveled to Hawaii, one of their favorite vacation destinations.

Kathie was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend to so many. She was a hero to all of us that loved her. No matter how bad she felt she always thanked God for her many blessings. She was incredibly brave and an inspiration to all who knew her.

Kathie is survived by her brother Jim Hanna (Nancy). Her children Barb Kirst, Cheri Bailey Ziegler, Mary Busch (Robb), and son in law, Jeff McCue. Her grandchildren Tammy Kirst Strenger, Kristen Poulsen (Mike), Keri Miller (Daniel Ferguson), Abby Lemke (Tyler), Greg Precht (Katie), and Sara Jones (Oliver), Kenny Ziegler (Deanna), Paula Ziegler, Jillayne Chancellor (Steve), Michael Bailey (Jennifer) as well as many other great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nephews Don and Allen McFarling, niece Anne Hanna and many other great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Fred Precht, her children Larry Kirst, Dan Precht, Joni McCue, Norm Ziegler (son-in-law), her sibling Norma McFarling and parents Ethel & Ed Hanna.
