Lovingly known as “Papa” to many, he pased away on July 14, 2021 at his daughter, Buffy’s house after a long fight with
cancer.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Popken and cousins, Kay and Gil Bridges.
He is survived by his daughters, Tiffany (Alastair) Boyd and Buffy (Sean) Centeno, both of Omaha; grandchildren, Gage, Cole, Tanner, Mia and Noah; sister, Jane Teten; nephews, Steven and Ryan (John Carl).
Kent was born in Fremont, NE. on October 27, 1943 to Blanche and Herman Popken. He attended Scribner Public Schools. He graduated from UNL with a Business Degree and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. Kent worked for the
“phone company” for 40 years. He enjoyed golf, biking, working out, sports and hunting.
His greatest happiness were his grandkids, taking them on vacations around the world. They were his
pride and joy and went to all their activities, soccer, dance, football, baseball, wrestling, basketball and track.
VISITATION: Sunday, July 18, beginning at 5pm at the Pacific Street Chapel with a MEMORIAL SERVICE at 7pm.
