Libby (Sklenicka) Brown
Age 91 of Omaha passed away on December 3, 2023 at New Cassel.
Libby always lived her life to the fullest and took advantage of every chance she could to travel; she and Ted spent many years “wintering” in Naples, Florida. Family camping trips were an almost every weekend occurrence when her children were young, and “cookie queen” is a nickname she was fond of. Libby was an exceptional baker whose home always smelled of fresh baked goodies, especially chocolate chip cookies, and she looked forward to creating her children’s themed birthday cakes each year. She also loved to paint and was an active volunteer at St. Bernard’s church – helping in any capacity she was able. And as if she was not busy enough, she was also an avid (and skilled!) bowler.
Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick “Ted” Brown Sr.; daughter, Jean Smith; siblings, Joe Sklenicka and Agnes Woita. Survived by children, Rick Brown, Diane (Jim) Butcher, Debora (David) Bibb; grandchildren, Garrett (Lisa) Rowley, Tammy Kaye, Ann Rowley, Justin (Kris) Brown, Cameron Brown; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; sister, Toni Volcek. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 10th from 2-4PM at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries 72nd Street Chapel, with prayer service at 4PM. Funeral Mass 10AM on Monday, December 11th at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Omaha. Memorials are preferred to St. Bernard’s Renovation Fund or Hospice of the Midwest.
