Lois "Dolly" Tollinger Rohling Simpson

Lois (“Dolly”) Rohling Simpson passed away peacefully on November 28, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church 6116 Dodge Street in Omaha on Monday December 4, 2017 at 10:00 am. A Visitation will be held at John A. Gentleman Mortuary on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 3:30 pm with a Wake Service to follow at 5:00 pm. Interment will be held later at a private ceremony at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Council Bluffs, Iowa.



Dolly was born and raised in Council Bluffs, IA where she attended Abraham Lincoln High School. She graduated from the University of Iowa in 1953 where she was a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. On June 1, 1957 she married Robert A. Rohling, whom she was married to for 30 years, until his death in 1987. Together they had four children. She treasured her role as wife, mother, and grandmother to inspire us all. In 1991, she married Frederick H. (“Fritz”) Simpson, whom she was married to for nearly 25 years, until his death in 2014. Through her life she was loyal to her faith, her family, and her multitude of friends. Always welcoming, interested, and kind, Dolly had an infectious spirit, beaming smile and love of conversation.



Her many interests included all things social - several bridge groups, lunch groups, book clubs, prayer groups, Town Hall Speakers Series, Okoboji Yacht Club, and Happy Hollow Club. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Parish for 55 years where she served in Guild Circle 7. She was committed to numerous organizations throughout her life including Duchesne Sodality Children of Mary, Bergan Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Guild and volunteered many hours in the hospital gift shop.



In addition to her husbands, Dolly was preceded in death by her parents Laverne and Harriet Tollinger, brother John Tollinger, and infant daughter Monica Jean. She is survived by her four children Julie Rohling Connor (Keith), Robert E. Rohling (Kim), Rebecca Rohling Braggins (Robert) and Thomas J. Rohling (Anne) and grandchildren Jackson and Emma Braggins, Raegan and Katie Rohling, and Elle Rohling and step grandchildren Kelly, Patrick, Daniel, Andrew, and Brian Connor. Also survived by Mary, Jim and Erin Shannon and Ted and Mary Simpson.



Services:

Monday, December 4, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Margaret Mary Church, Omaha, Nebraska. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery, Council Bluffs, Iowa.



Visitation:

Sunday, December 3, 2017 starting at 3:30 p.m. with Wake Service at 5:00 p.m. at the John A. Gentleman 72nd Street Chapel.
