Madeline “Sue” Nalty Schinzel died peacefully today surrounded by her family. She had a brilliant mind and a kind heart and was many things to many people: loving wife, protective and caring mother, nurse and caregiver, extraordinarily loyal friend. Fiercely proud of her Irish Catholic heritage, she called Omaha home for her entire life, a point of pride made even more significant in her mind by the fact that she never betrayed her roots by living west of 72nd Street. St. John's Church and School, Mercy High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing all played a part in her formation. But it is her 59 years of marriage to Don Schinzel and her 3 children and 11 grandchildren that shaped her legacy. Sue is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents Richard and Madeline Nalty and her equally beloved brothers Bernie, Eddie and Pat, who were also her best friends. Irish eyes are smiling.
