Marianne K Marne

Marianne K. ‘Mary’ Marne, 61, of Haven, died September 27, 2024, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born August 3, 1963, in Fargo, ND, and was adopted by James and Mildred ‘Millie’ (Svagera) Marne. 

Mary acquired her associate degree from Metropolitan Community College in Omaha, NE, where she graduated cum laude in electronic technology. She felt drawn to volunteer and dedicated her adult life to rescuing and caring for animals. Mary funded food and veterinarian care with unwavering love and attention to over 95 fosters, adoptions, and rescues since moving to Kansas in 2000. Although she will be deeply missed, 34 of those rescues shall continue to thrive with her animal rescue partner of 32 years in their furever home. 

Mary is survived by: partner in rescuing, Janice Schlange, Haven, KS; mother, Millie Marne; brothers, David (Cheryl) Marne, Steve (Debbie) Marne; nieces, Ashley and Brittany Marne; nephew, Aidan Thomy, with all of the family residing in Omaha, NE. 

She was preceded in death by her father, James Marne.

Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2024, at John A. Gentleman Mortuary, 14151 Pacific St. Omaha, NE. Family to receive friends following the service. Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Hutchinson Animal Shelter, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson KS 67501.
