Born 11-23-1939 in a home birth in North Dakota. She was a home birth and the Dr. forgot to register her birth so she had a delayed birth register. When she was confirmed in church they listed her name as Arlene instead of Marlene so for many years she went by both names til she had that corrected. Married her first husband Lee Hollingsworth that took her to many many states and many businesses that she helped run. She remarried when she met the love of her life Dean Neill. They had many great adventures together. They traveled to North Dakota for Hoe Down Days and class reunions for Marlene every year. She still keeps in touch with school friends. One of their favorite loves was going to see the Nebraska Husker football games. Going to football games were new to Marlene, but football became a huge passion for her. Any Saturday/Sunday during football season you would find her in front of a game, college & pro. Dean passed away far too soon, they had 23 years together and she never went a day without missing him.
She worked at Werner Trucking where she was the assistant manager at company store for over 20 years. After she quit work at age 72 she enjoyed her travels. She would leave the cold the end of January and head to Florida and stay with her sister, Judy til April. Her 2 other sisters Gene & Bev would come too. What fun they had. Marlene discovered she loved cruise ships while in Florida and going to Hilton Head with her sister & family. She also enjoyed lots of camping trips with her daughter Sheila & husband Steve. They went to Minnesota, Colorado & many trips to Missouri along with little camping trips in Iowa. She really enjoyed going places. She was blessed with 2 great grandchildren that she enjoyed so much.
