Mary never met a stranger and always loved hearing other people's stories. Born in 1931 in Omaha, Nebraska, Mary was the only child of Arthur and Mabel Stieren. She loved dogs, especially her first dog, Lassie, a Scottie. After a period of living in California, the family returned to Nebraska, where she attended high school in Orleans, Nebraska, and college at The University of Nebraska. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Biskup in 1950. Together they had nine children and many dogs, as well as turtles, lizards, snakes, and other animals. Mary and Don lived briefly in Bangor, Maine, 10 years in North Platte, Nebraska, 19 years in Kansas City, Missouri, 10 years in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She spent her final years in the Kansas City area.
While Mary and Don lived in New Jersey they enjoyed visiting the sights of NYC. She loved to travel, and spent a year with Don in their motor home touring the United States before they settled in Hendersonville. Mary lost Don suddenly in 1995.
In 2001, she married Don Walker ("D2"), who died in 2002.
