Maxine Lillian Masin was born June 11, 1935, to Joseph Masin and Lillian Hulinsky Masin, in Burwell, Nebraska at her Grandma Hulinsky’s house. She was the oldest of 4 children with 2 brothers, Melvin and Larry, and their baby sister JoAnn. Her mom and dad, Lil and Joe, farmed in Garfield County, outside Burwell. She helped her folks with the farm chores, and around their home. Maxine attended Komensky grade school, a one room schoolhouse, then Ord High School in Ord, Nebraska, living with family in town and graduating when she was 16 years old. After graduation, Maxine moved to Omaha and attended Secretarial school, eventually gaining employment at Swifts in Omaha.
She eventually met the love of her life, Angelo (Ang) Perrotto. On October 2, 1954, they married and began an amazing journey that touched the lives of many, many people. They lovingly raised 9 kids, starting out in an apartment where little Davie was born, moving shortly before their second child, Angie, was born, to what would be their forever home on Seward St. Mark, Greg, Patty and Phil were born within the next 5 years and Chris, Steve and Matt were born within 10 years after that.
Ang and Maxine were active at St. Pius X when it was a young parish. Maxine stayed home and supported Angelo in any number of ventures, raising the family and sharing a passion for Nebraska Cornhusker Football. When Matt was about 4 years old, Maxine went to work as secretary to the principal at Roncalli High School, where the kids attended. She also worked at RehabVisions as an Administrative Secretary for several years. Ang went home to be with the Lord in January 2006. Maxine continued to live at home and enjoy her growing family. They eventually had 37 grandchildren and the 41st great grandchild is due anytime now. She was a loving wife, a great Mom, a sweet sister, a wonderful aunt and a supportive friend. The single most important thing in her life was her family. We know this by the way she lived her life. Her legacy lives in her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. We miss you already, Mom!
