Mia Inez Archer

April 24, 1930 — April 23, 2015

Mia was born in Des Moines, Iowa on April 24, 1930 to Mahlon Baldwin and Mary Jane Cooper and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1948.



Mia was an LPN nurse and psychiatric technician in California and Arizona, where she furthered her education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education from California State College, San Bernadino and Master's degrees from The University of California, Riverside and The University of Dallas. A compassionate and dedicated educator, she worked with Navajo Children on reservations in Chinle, Arizona, and Gallop, New Mexico and continued to support Native American education in her later years. In 1985, she was recognized by the City of San Bernardino for her exceptional work with Japanese foreign exchange students.



She is survived by her husband, Robert Maynard; children and spouses, Mary Jane and Paul Escobar of Wildomar, Ca, Robyn and Capt. James,(Ret.) George of Bellevue, Ne, Benjamin Baldwin of Omaha, Ne., John Robert Maynard of Monterey, Ca; grandchildren, Robert Michael Schwing, Paul A. Escobar, Rachel F. Escobar; great grandchildren, Christopher M. Schwing, Chloe M. Schwing, Jaxton Schwing..



Services:

Memorial Mass Wednesday (3-25-15) 10:30 AM at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, Omaha, Nebraska.
