Nadyne J. Millar

March 7, 1929 — July 4, 2022

Nadyne Johnson Millar entered the joy of the Heavenly Kingdom on July 4, 2022, a day that will be remembered as her Independence Day. Born on March 7, 1929, in Ames, Iowa, Nadyne was an incredible gift to her family and those who knew her.

Nadyne is survived by her six children Julianne (Linus) Chandler, Gregory (Carol), Michael (Allison), Philip (Jeanne), Peter and Cristopher (Amy). She was blessed with grandchildren Jessica (Allen) Ball, Emily (Michael) Dixon, Benjamin (Kelsey), Shelby, Taylor, Eric, Kathryn, Lauren and Gracelyn, and four great-grandchildren Adelyn and Charley Ball and Finn and Lincoln Dixon. She was a sister-in-law to Judy Johnson and Kay Johnson, an aunt to many, and a very dear friend to so many, including and especially Karen, Lynne, Sharon and Dick.

Nadyne was preceded in death by her mother Esther Marie Nelson Johnson and father Cecil Johnson; three brothers Newell, Franklin and Richard; a son, Eric Steven, twin of Phil; two grandchildren, Caleb and Matthew; and a number of "Grand Angels".

For years, Nadyne was an active member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church where she served and lead the Altar Guild, among other things. She also served on the Board at Midland College and was a volunteer with PRIDE Omaha, touring the country to provide drug and alcohol education programs. She also was a long-time member of various groups including PEO. Nadyne graduated from Iowa State University and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Nadyne had many interests. She kept a special eye on her appearance. Nadyne made sure she was nicely dressed and often incorporated cute shoes with matching or coordinating socks. She was the Halloween costume maker for the family as she was known for her wonderful workmanship in sewing, needlepoint, cross-stitch, knitting and crafting. Nadyne's gardening and cooking talents were legendary amongst her family and friends.

Most precious to her were spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren; loving her many pet dogs; establishing gardens wherever she lived; cooking/baking for family and friends; playing bridge and entertaining when she was able; and watching old movies and TV shows.
