Nicole Renee Plowman, “Nicky” to most, and “Nikki” to her mother, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Nicole led a vibrant, joyful life and left a positive impact on every person she interacted with.
She was born on November 20th, 1971 and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She attended Marian High School and the University of Nebraska, where she studied education. She spent the first part of her professional life as a teacher in the Omaha Public School system. Eventually, she moved to Phoenix, where she excelled as a sales representative for Merck Pharmaceuticals. She founded a non-profit dog rescue, Arizona Desert Dogs, where she saved over 100 animals, working tirelessly to find homes for each of them. She was active in her community and cultivated a close circle of friends, you couldn’t help falling in love with her. She was the soul of generosity, thoughtful and empathetic, her kindness spread to everyone. She was adventurous, hilarious and the life of the party. Nicky was the cool, fun aunt whose hospitality led to many spring breaks spent in the sun with her niece and nephew’s friends. She loved animals, being in nature, spending time with loved ones, and 80s rock & roll.
After nearly 20 years, she returned to Omaha to be closer to her family. She fell in love with Mike Pfeilsticker and adopted two rambunctious dogs, Bella and Jesse. They loved exploring new places, going dancing together, and constantly conversing about any topic they could think of. They brought out the best in the other person and considered each other to be soulmates.
She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Plowman and her beloved dogs, Victoria, Jack and Marshall. She is survived by her mother, Margaret Plowman, her sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Michael Baumer, niece Alexa Baumer, nephew Andrew Baumer, her soulmate, Michael Pfeilsticker, her dogs Bella and Jesse and many other close family members and friends. She was a bright, beautiful light in the world. We will dearly miss her laughter, her enormous heart, and deep, long conversations on the phone.
