Ollis Lindsey O'Neil, a long-time resident of Omaha, NE, died on December 10, 2019, at Prestige Care Center in Plattsmouth, NE. She was born on December 2, 1940, in Bay Springs, MS, to Charles S. and Earline (Mills) Smith. Her father passed away when she was two years old. Ollis loved her stepfather. Reverend Jordan Allen Lindsey, Jr. very much. He was always "Daddy" to her. Her family lived in several different towns in Mississippi, following Reverend Lindsey's pastoral appointments to several United Methodist congregations. Ollis graduated from Gulfport (MS) High School and attended college for a short time before enlisting in the United States Army. She served as a medic at Fort Sam Houston. While stationed in Texas, she met a young Air Force lieutenant, the late Richard J. O'Neil. Richard and Ollis married in November 1965 and moved the next year to Omaha upon honorable discharge from active duty. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage and raised two daughters. Ollis was a lifelong fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide football team and proud of her time in the military. Ollis was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother-in-law Donald and sister-in-law Joan McWhirter. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Jeffrey) Kazmierski of Bellevue, NE, and Erin O'Neil of Omaha; grandchildren Madelyn and Sophia Kazmierski; sister Sidney Caldwell of Safety Harbor, FL, and brothers Jay (Carlena) Lindsey of Junction City, KS, and Martin Lindsey of Safety Harbor, FL; sisters-in-law Janice O'Neil and Mary Lynne O'Neil. The family requests memorials to the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Prayer service. Private interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Omaha.
