Passed away Wednesday, May 3rd at Sunrise Brighton Gardens in Omaha. Preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine, and parents Paul and Agnes. Survived by daughters Robin Ann (Omaha) and Mary Lee (Warrensburg, MO) and sons Mark (and wife Rebecca, Council Bluffs) and Eric (Denver). Grandchildren Gregory Versch (and wife Melissa, (Chicago), Scott Versch (Council Bluffs), Mike Versch, Christopher Versch, Alexis Rietbrock, Miklo Rietbrock and J.J. Rietbrock (all of Warrensburg, MO) and Great Grandson Paul David Versch (Chicago).
Graduate of Herndon, KS, High in 1942. Served in the Army Air Force as a gunner in the 721st Squadron (Cottontails), 450th Bomb Group in Italy in WW II, 1943 – 1945. Graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 1949. Married Lorraine on November 23, 1950 in Lincoln. Moved to Omaha in 1962.
Paul served as a Civil Engineer in the Omaha Public Works Department, retiring in 1986. Served as Regional Chairman National Association of Professional Engineers. Served as the first Scoutmaster of Troop 249 at Harrison School.
He and Lorraine then lived for three years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia working for the Saudi Consulting House. In retirement, actively volunteered at Boys Town and the VA Hospital.
