Richard W. Brady, 77, of Bellevue, NE passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Nebraska Medicine Bellevue Medical Center.

Richard was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Paul and Erma Brady. He grew up in Bellevue, NE and graduated from Bellevue East High School. He attended Wayne State College where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Education. Richard worked at Logan Magnolia High School from 1970 to 1990 where he taught art, world history, drivers education, photography and was the yearbook advisor. He went on to earn a Masters of Science Degree and a Doctorate in Education from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

 

Richard made his home and worked in Bellevue, NE following his teaching career in Logan. He was an avid Husker fan and a season ticket holder at Memorial Stadium for many years. He had an extensive Husker memorabilia collection and enjoyed collecting autographs of Husker standouts. He followed many collegiate sports and particularly enjoyed watching the College World Series.

 

Richard was a talented artist and enjoyed sketching, painting, stained glass, and pottery throughout his life. He created and gifted many beautiful pieces of artwork to family and friends. He had a great love for German shepherds and always had one as a companion by his side.

 

Richard was known for making the best fudge and monster cookies which he treated his family to each Christmas. He passed on his talent and mother’s recipe to his children and grandchildren by teaching them how to make his delicious fudge one Christmas. Richard was very proud of his grandchildren and Tyler’s service in the Army. He enjoyed sharing his love for movies with them and attending Joshua’s basketball games.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Erma Brady and survived by his children, Tiffane (Bobby) Cassady,

Kristin (Kevin) Barnum and Chad (Mary) Brady; 2 grandchildren, SFC Tyler (Kylee) Clark and Joshua Brady; 2 great-

grandchildren, Amari and Avery Clark; brother, Tom (Laura) Brady; his former wife, Andrea McWilliams; his extended

family, nieces, nephews, many good friends and his beloved dog, Jack.

A memorial service will be Monday, November 13, 12:00pm, at the John A. Gentleman Mortuaries Bellevue Chapel.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Nebraska Humane Society.
