Rita J. Ziska

She was born on October 7, 1943 and died peacefully with her daughters present on July 18, 2023 in Omaha.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents: Joseph F. Tvrdy, Sr. and Helen (Gabler) Tvrdy; sister Mary Ann Tvrdy Burkholder, brother-in- law Jerry Burkholder, nephew John Burkholder; brother Jim Tvrdy, and niece and goddaughter Gina Tvrdy.

She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her loving husband Larry Ziska, children: Marcy (Bob Adler), Joe (Dawn), Jerry, Kevin, Tina Holland (Dave Kappel), Mike (Barb); 5 grandchildren: Ashley Ruiz (Danny), Becky Smith (Dylan), Gunner Holland, Zane and Gabe Ziska; 4 great-grandchildren: Jackson and Rachel Ruiz, Delilah and Avery Smith; and siblings: Joseph F. Tvrdy, Jr. (Darlene), and Bets Sasges; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Rita attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School, Marian High School and Creighton University. She married Larry Ziska on August 24, 1963. She was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and St. Phillip Neri - Blessed Sacrament Parish serving in countless mass, parish and school activities her entire life. She was a Girl Scout leader in the 1970s and led the Little Flowers group within the last 15 years.

She golfed regularly and achieved a hole-in-one at Steve Hogan Golf Course on 7-6-2017. She loved her gardens, church community and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved family holiday gatherings, playing cards, and taking care of her great-grandchildren. She will always be our beautiful butterfly.

VISITATION: August 16, 2023 4:30 - 6:30 pm, VIGIL SERVICE 6:30 pm, at St. Phillip Neri Blessed Sacrament, 8200 N. 30th St., Omaha. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: August 17, 2023, 10:00 am at St. Phillip Neri Blessed Sacrament, 8200 N. 30th St. INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery, 7710 W. Center Rd.
