Bob was born in Carbon, Iowa, graduated from the Corning High School in 1951, entered the U. S. Army in 1953 and was stationed in Eielson AFB, Alaska. Bob founded Imperial Tile Co. in 1963 and it grew into one of the Midwest’s largest floor covering stores, concentrating on servicing a clientele of some of Omaha’s premier homebuilders.
Bob’s hobbies included any kind of auto racing, but especially local dirt track racing of which he participated in as a driver in the 1950’s. He also enjoyed a game of golf , now and then and in the early days was an avid bowler. He also liked to relax and watch the waves on the Florida beaches.
He was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Lucy McKee; brothers, Willard and Bryon (Marvel) McKee; sisters, Eileen (Bing) Freshour and Marjorie (Allen) Miller. Survived by his sister, Diane (Tony) Dock; sister in law, Nola Comstock; sons, Larry (Lisa) McKee, Steve (Julie) McKee; daughter, Teri (Allan) Peterson; grandkids, Robert, Jamie, Chris and Eric; 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation:
Visitation will begin Friday at 1:00 pm at the John A. Gentleman Mortuaries, Pacific Street Chapel, 14151 Pacific Street Omaha, NE. 68154, with the family present at 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. with a Memorial Service to be held at 6:00 pm.
Inurnment:
A private inurnment service will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials:
In lieu of flowers, Memorials are suggested to the Josie Harper Hospice House.
