Survived by her husband of 67 years, Steve M., daughters, Susan (Don) Lerdahl, Sally ( Terry) Rehmeier and son, Thomas (Ann) Vrbanac of Phoenix, AZ . 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
Rose was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Edward and Anna Walasek and graduated from Omaha South High School in 1950. She met the love of her life, Steve, 72 years ago at a South High football game. He threw an empty popcorn box that was ment for the trash can accidentally hitting her. Steve went down to apologize and the rest is history.
After graduating Rose worked as a key punch operator at the UP Railroad until Susan was born. She became a full time homemaker and mother to her three children. Rose was very crafty and enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery and knitting. She loved making each of her children and grandchildren afghans and great grandchildren baby afghans. What a special heirloom for each of us to treasure.
She was an excellent seamstress, cook and baker. There wasn’t a thing she didn’t mend! Kolaches, Runzas and “ homemade Grandma Rolls” were her specialty. She also enjoyed Polka dancing and trips with Steve. She was a wonderful Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, Aunt, neighbor and friend.
“ Bless your heart” as you have blessed ours more than you will ever know. Know that your legacy will live on through each one of us. We all “Love you dearly”.
You will be missed beyond measure.
