Rose Claire Steve, a devoted scholar and educator, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on July 6, 1933, Rose dedicated her life to the pursuit of knowledge and the noble art of teaching.
Rose's passion for scholarly research knew no bounds. Her insatiable curiosity led her to explore the works of countless writers, and she reveled in the opportunity to share the wealth of knowledge she acquired with others. Her enthusiasm for learning was infectious, inspiring countless students, friends, and colleagues throughout her life.
She was born to Thomas and Gertrude Steve, growing up with her beloved sisters Mary Helen Hanson and Catherine Duncan. In death, Rose is reunited with her parents and sister, Catherine, in eternal peace.
Rose is survived by her cherished sister, Mary Helen Hanson, who will always carry the memory of their shared bond. Rose also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who were blessed to have her as their aunt. Additionally, Rose is survived by her cousins, Ted and Sheree Webber, Paul and Susan Webber, Charles and Roberta Morrow, Lewis and Pat Morrow and Richard Tye.
Rose was particularly interested in advancing the literacy skills of underprivileged and minority children. She developed and directly taught literacy programs to grade school aged children throughout her life. She was a great supporter of Boys Town’s efforts to advance programs and research to help children.
Rose Claire Steve's legacy as a scholar, educator, love for the symphony and caring family member will live on in the hearts and minds of those she touched throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 10:00am at the Immaculate Conception – Dowd Chapel, Boystown with interment in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery.
VISITATION with the family begins Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after 5:00pm with a WAKE service at 6:00pm at the Pacific Street Chapel.
In accordance with Rose's wishes, in lieu of flowers, she kindly requests that donations be made to the Boys Town organization, specifically directed to the "Rose C. Steve Endowed Fund."
