Jim Watson, 82, of Omaha passed away peacefully on January 21. He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 58 years, Jean, daughters Diane, Mary Pat (Nick), Christine (Michael); grandchildren Alec, Kylie, David, James and Ana, brother Mick, and many nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Madalyne, brother Bill, sister Mary Kay, and cherished daughter Laura. Jim was born in Sioux City IA, and attended Creighton University where he met Jean. After a short time in Chicago, they settled back in Omaha and started their family. Jim’s career at Mutual of Omaha led him to many lifelong friendships, as did his passion for Omaha theatre, where he performed onstage in many productions, and counted the Omaha theatre community as his second family. Jim considered his most important role, after father and husband, to be that of Deacon. He was ordained in the first Archdiocese deaconate class in Omaha in 1973, and humbly served at St Cecilia’s Cathedral for more than 35 years.
Jim was a vibrant and unforgettable force of life, who touched the hearts of all who knew him. The family is so grateful for all your support, and wants to also thank the staff at Brookestone Village and St. Croix Hospice for their amazing care and kindness.
