Sandra was born in Scottsbluff, NE on October 22, 1954. She was an athlete, gymnast and diver in high school. She joined the United States Army in 1973 and was stationed in California where she met the love of her life Brian Weinman. They played with the seals in Monterrey Bay and took motorcycle rides along the Pacific Coast Highway. Sandra and Brian were married June 8, 1974 in a small ceremony. Together they were transferred to Germany where she climbed the ranks as a Vietnam War Era Linguist who translated Czechoslovakian communications with Top Secret Crypto Clearance.
After returning to the United States she started a family with Brian in Omaha, NE. She attended UNMC as a young mother and became a Registered Nurse. The bulk of her nursing career was spent at Bergan Mercy Hospital. Sandra compassionately cared for her patients for 41 years.
She was driven, intelligent, kind and caring in her professional life but where she really shined was as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Sandra loved all of her family fiercely and if she could help in anyway she did. She was very actively involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild.
The love and pride she had for her children and grandchildren was immense and unending. She inspired them and served as a role model to many. Her son Jared Weinman was in the United States Army. Her daughter Cassandra Bailey serves the community as a public school educator. Her daughter Miranda Rocha serves the community in early childhood education. Her grandson Colin Bailey is in the United States Marine Corps. Her grandson Jaydon Weinman joined the United States Army and will leave for boot camp soon. Her granddaughter Kallie Weinman is already taking classes to prepare for becoming a Registered Nurse.
The happiest times of her life were spent gardening, birdwatching, photographing wildlife, crocheting and crafting. The most joyous moments of her life were when she was surrounded by the giggles, laughter, cuddles, hugs, love and kisses of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She is loved by so many and will never be forgotten.
Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Patricia Thompson. Survived by husband, Brian Weinman; children, Cassandra Bailey, Jared Weinman, Miranda (Erick) Rocha; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; siblings, Dennis Thompson, Joyce Torchia, Carlene Claspill, Joseph (Paula) Thompson; numerous nieces and nephews.
