Shirley Jean Mesenbrink Drey

Shirley passed away peacefully on Thursday, surrounded by family at Valley Lakes Senior Living. 

Shirley was best known for her sense of humor, her fierce love of her children and family, and the importance she put on higher education. She loved her flower gardens and her little dogs. She was a Cornhusker fan and a member of Holy Name Parish for over 60 years. She leaves behind many friends at Holy Name and Valley Lakes. 

Shirley was preceded in death by Wayne, her husband of 55 years, her parents, Roy Mesenbrink and Lorena and Langley Chambers and son, Russ, granddaughter, Jessica Beam. 

Shirley is survived by her sons, Merl, Ron (Crystal), Michael (Dawn), Pat (Rose) and Cmdr. (USN)Charlie (Amy) Drey; 

daughters, Suzanne (Dick) Howe, Cheryl (Dr. Brian) Jamieson, Dr. Mary Drey (Tom) Oliver, Patty Hansen and Donna (Tony) Beam; 24 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Hrabik; in laws, Don Drey, Loyal (Marlene) Drey, Connie Drey, Velva (Cy) Schmieding and Larry (Barb) Drey.
