Sr. Marie, Sssf Gross-Rhode

Daughter of Henry and Anna (Peitzmeier) Grosserhode was born in Dodge NE. One of seven children, brothers, Norbert, Cyril, Elmer; sisters, Ethel, Delia, and Jean. Survived by brothers, Cyril-Cy (Alda) and Elmer (Linda) Grosserhode. Sister completed her elementary education at Sacred Heart Academy, Olean NE in 1926. She entered the Community of School Sisters of St. Francis in Milwaukee WI. She attended St. Josephs High School and Alverno College in Milwaukee and DePaul University in Chicago. Her teaching positions spanned 42 years. She taught in Chicago, Skokie and Glenview, Il. as well as Slinger WI. Sister taught emotionally disturbed children at the Lorenz Institute in Eau Claire WI. In Nebraska she taught at Mary Our Queen in Omaha and Bergan Jr. High in Fremont. She spent four years taking care of her mother after which she served as Sacristan at Fr. Flanagan’s Boystown in Omaha. Sister retired to live at New Cassel where she remained active as a volunteer until August of 2015 when she returned to the Sacred Heart Convent in Milwaukee WI.



Services:

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 9:00 A.M. in the Chapel at the New Cassel Retirement Center, 900 Norh 90 Street Omaha, Nebraska 68114.
