Stephen "Krunch" Kirschbaum

Stephen Eugene Kirschbaum (Krunch) was born on July 1, 1956 to Don Kirschbaum and Michaela (Brady) Kirschbaum at Ellsworth Air force Base, Rapid City, SD. He died on April 29, 2018 in Omaha, NE at the age of 61. Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents James and Margaret Brady and John and Frances Kirschbaum.

Steve attended Holy Name Catholic School for all 12 years and graduated in 1974. He began working at Union Pacific Railroad immediately upon graduating. Steve was a skilled craftsman and worked as an electroplater and carman. Many a railroad spike was crafted into various figures as gifts from the UP president’s office. He worked mostly in the Omaha or Council Bluffs shops but also spent a few years in Pocatello, ID providing him with great fishing and camping opportunities. Steve was a gifted athlete and seemed to pick up any sport with ease. He loved to water ski and competed on Carter Lake. Golfing was another sport at which he excelled. Music, friends and the outdoors always came together for a good time with Steve. He will be greatly missed by many friends and his family.

He is survived by Sue Wilson, his love and partner; his parents Don and Kay Kirschbaum; siblings: Patsy Carlson and husband Paul Carlson; Don Kirschbaum; John Kirschbaum and wife Amy; Dave Kirschbaum and wife Angie; Beth Wilderman and husband Josh; nieces and nephews Allie Kirschbaum, Patrick Kirschbaum, Kayla Crann and husband Steve, Steve Carlson, Nick Carlson and wife Amanda, Emma Kirschbaum, Joseph Kirschbaum, Ella Kirschbaum, Lane Kirschbaum, Jack Wilderman-Nielsen, and Charlie Wilderman; great-nephew Joseph Crann and great-niece Marie Crann, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
