Susan Daly Yost

Suzi Daly (Reagan) Yost died peacefully on August 7, 2017 at Aksarben Senior Living in Omaha, NE at age 71. Suzi was born in Paducah, KY on November 8, 1945, to Harry and Elizabeth (Osteen) Reagan. Her family moved to Omaha, NE where she attended Benson High School and later went on to earn a Bachelor of Education in 1967 from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority, an Alpha Lambda Delta Honorary and met husband Ronald Yost, an Alpha Tau Omega, through Greek life. They were married on January 21, 1967 in Lincoln and moved to Milwaukee, WI where Suzi taught elementary school. After several stops around the country, they eventually settled in Omaha in 1976 where Suzi retired from teaching and they raised their 4 children. She devoted her life to her children, husband, and faith in God, spending free time volunteering and attending services at Lifegate Church as well as gardening, reading, traveling, and taking long walks with Ron and their dogs. In 2017, Ron and Suzi celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She will be remembered by her infectious laugh, infinite strength and steadfast faith.



Suzi is survived by her husband, Ron; her children, Shane (Kellie), Jason (Aline), and Sarah Yost; grandchildren, Evan, Taylor, and Kyler Yost; brother, Robert Forest Reagan. She is proceeded in death by her parents; daughter, Melissa; brother, Harry Joseph Reagan.



A memorial service to celebrate Suzi’s life will be held on Friday, September 29th at 2pm at Lifegate Church, 726 South 55th Street, Omaha, NE 68106. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Suzi’s name to the following nonprofit organizations through their web sites, a check by mail or the Yost family.

Suzi has always held a special place in her heart for animals. She was notorious for rescuing any injured or stray animal she would encounter while out walking her dog. Over the years, the family raised or nursed back to health countless bunnies, turtles and birds, before eventually returning them to their natural habitats. Help continue her legacy of saving and protecting local animals in need by making a donation in her name to the Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, Inc.

Suzi was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in early 2016, but had been battling dementia for years before doctors were able to accurately diagnose her. It was heartbreaking for everyone who knew and loved Suzi to watch the disease steal her memories, her motor skills and ability to communicate, and her once vivid and infectious personality. However, no one suffered more than Suzi herself. LBD is a progressive brain disorder that affects areas of the brain that regulate behavior, cognition, and movement. LBD is not a rare disease, but many doctors and medical professionals are not familiar with it. It affects an estimated 1.4 million individuals and their families in the United States. Because the symptoms can closely resemble other more commonly known diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, it is widely underdiagnosed. It’s a devastating disease that currently has no cure, so any donation made to the Alzheimers Association funds the continued research and puts us that much closer to finding a cure for Lewy Body Dementia and other debilitating brain disorders like it.
